Exploring Smart Lighting Solutions and Z-Wave Integration Tips

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and Z-Wave integration lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. :star2:

First off, I recently picked up a set of Philips Hue LightStrip Plus LED lights, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to my home setup. The flexibility of shaping them and the smooth dimming capabilities are just amazing. I’ve been using them to create some really cool ambiance effects, especially in my living room. If anyone has tips on optimizing their performance or unique use cases, I’d love to hear them! :bulb:

On the Z-Wave front, I’ve been working on integrating a few new devices into my system. One thing I’ve noticed is that sometimes when adding new nodes, the node IDs aren’t assigned in a completely sequential manner. For example, after adding a device with ID 20, the next one might jump to 24. While this isn’t a major issue, it’s a bit puzzling. Does anyone know why this happens or if there’s a way to control the ID assignment more precisely?

Another thing I’ve been exploring is using Shelly devices for 2-way switching. I have a Shelly Plus 1 connected to a light switch, and I’m trying to pair it with a Shelly i4 at my bedside. The goal is to have both switches control the same light without needing to expose their SSIDs. I was hoping Bluetooth could handle the communication, but it seems like that’s not straightforward. Has anyone successfully set up a similar setup or have advice on alternative methods? :hammer_and_wrench:

Lastly, I wanted to mention a quick tip I discovered for managing device configurations. If you ever need to reset your system to its out-of-the-box state, there’s a hidden menu option that can help with that. I found this super useful when troubleshooting some connectivity issues. If anyone else has tricks like this, please share! :dart:

Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of building out my smart home ecosystem. It’s a mix of trial and error, but every successful integration feels like a mini victory. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences! :computer::sparkles:
