Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all.
First off, I’ve been really impressed with the Yeelight Light Strip Plus. I recently updated their firmware, and now it’s fully integrated with HomeKit. The setup was pretty smooth—just a long press on the Mi Home app tile, and it was all set to connect to my Home app. It’s amazing how seamless the integration is, and the strip looks stunning in my living room! If anyone else has tried this, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
On the other hand, I’ve been struggling a bit with my Zigbee network setup. I’ve got a mix of devices from different brands, and sometimes it feels like they’re not all playing nicely together. I’ve read that using Zigbee2MQTT can help stabilize the network, especially after reboots, which is a common issue I’ve encountered. Has anyone else found a reliable solution for maintaining a stable Zigbee network?
Another thing I’ve been curious about is Shelly devices. I’ve heard great things about their reliability and versatility. I’m thinking of adding a Shelly Wave Shutter to control my curtains, but I’m a bit unsure about configuring the outputs correctly. Specifically, I want to use the O1 and O2 outputs as dry contacts without any voltage. Has anyone successfully set this up?
I’d also love to hear about your experiences with smart lighting dimmers. I’ve got a setup with 12 LED panels totaling 288W, and I’m on the hunt for a reliable dimmer that can handle this load. I’ve considered both Z-Wave and Zigbee options, but I’m not sure which would integrate best with my existing system.
Lastly, I’ve been exploring template logic in Home Assistant for automations. I’m trying to set up a system where my thermostat adjusts based on whether the HVAC is cooling or heating. The template I’ve written seems logical, but I’m running into some issues with it not triggering correctly. Any tips or resources on troubleshooting template logic would be super helpful!
I’m really enjoying this journey into home automation, and I’d love to hear your experiences, tips, and recommendations. Let’s keep the conversation going! ![]()
