I’m thrilled to share my journey in creating a smart lighting setup for my toddler’s room. My goal is to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for him, especially during those middle-of-the-night trips to the bathroom. I want to avoid having him get used to sleeping with a night light, but still provide enough visibility when he wakes up.
I’ve been researching LED light strips, specifically looking for ones that are dimmable and emit a warm white light. I’m not sure if RGB features are necessary for this setup, so I’m leaning towards simpler, more functional options. I’m also considering motion sensors to automatically turn the lights on when he gets out of bed.
One thing I’m unsure about is whether I need to use a Z-Wave plug or if there are LED strips that are Z-Wave capable out of the box. I’m also wondering if soldering skills are required for this project or if there are plug-and-play solutions available.
If anyone has experience with similar setups or recommendations for reliable LED strips and motion sensors, I’d love to hear your insights! Let’s make this a safe and convenient space for my little one. ![]()
