Exploring Smart Lighting Solutions for an Old Apartment

Hi everyone, I’m diving into my first major home automation project, and I’m both excited and a bit overwhelmed. I want to share my journey and see if anyone has tips or recommendations for my setup.

I live in an old apartment with two separate lighting circuits in one room. As part of a renovation, I plan to extend these circuits and integrate them into my home automation system. My goal is to create a smart lighting setup that’s both energy-efficient and budget-friendly.

I’ve considered using smart dimmers with compatible LED bulbs, but I’m struggling to find reliable options that fit my needs. I also worry about safety since I’m dealing with high voltage for the first time. Another idea is to use smart bulbs with dimming and color temperature capabilities, but I’m not sure which brands or models are the most reliable and affordable.

I’ve come across the Fibaro RGBW Micro Controller, which seems promising, but I’m unclear on how to connect it properly to my 12V system. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’m also looking for budget-friendly solutions that can impress my family, as they’re skeptical about the benefits of smart lighting. If anyone has successfully implemented a similar setup or has recommendations, I’d love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance for your insights and suggestions! Let’s make this project a success together. :rocket:
