Exploring Smart Lighting Solutions for Limited Wall Space

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out for some advice regarding smart lighting solutions for my parents’ new home. They’ve encountered a bit of a challenge with limited wall space, which has made installing multiple light switches quite tricky. In some areas, there’s only room for one gang box, yet they need to control around six lights. Additionally, they’d like the ability to dim any light, which adds another layer of complexity.

I’ve been researching the market for a solution that can handle multiple lights with dimming capabilities, ideally through a single switch or a more space-efficient setup. So far, I haven’t found a product that ticks all the boxes—six-light control, dimmability, and Z-Wave compatibility. I’m curious if anyone has successfully implemented a similar setup or has recommendations for achieving this without compromising on functionality.

One idea that comes to mind is using a combination of smart switches and automation rules to manage multiple lights from a single interface. However, I’m not entirely sure how feasible this is or if it would meet my parents’ needs for simplicity and ease of use. I’m also considering whether integrating a hub like Hubitat or Homey could streamline the process, allowing for more flexible control over the lighting system.

If anyone has experience with multi-light control setups, especially in challenging spaces, I’d love to hear about your solutions, preferred products, or any lessons learned during the installation process. Your insights would be invaluable as my parents prepare to move into their new home and want to ensure their lighting system is both functional and user-friendly.

Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestions!
