I’m currently in the process of figuring out the best way to cover my patio doors, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences. I have French doors that are 100” wide and 92” tall, with window panels on both sides and above. The challenge here is that I only have a wall on one side of the doors, which limits my options for window treatments.
I’ve been researching and narrowing it down to two main options:

Curtains: This seems like the more affordable option. However, since I only have a wall on one side, I’d have to operate them from that side. I’m not sure how effective this would be in terms of light blocking and insulation.

Two 50” Cellular Shades: This would be more expensive, but cellular shades are known for their energy efficiency and ability to block out light effectively. I’m concerned about the cost and whether they’ll fit properly given the size of my doors.
I’m also thinking about the future—eventually, I’d like to switch all my window blinds to smart solutions. I’m not sure if I should invest in a specific brand now or wait for technology to evolve further.
