Exploring Smart Lighting Solutions for RVs

Hi everyone, I’ve been exploring smart lighting solutions for my RV and wanted to share my journey and findings. For those of you who also love the freedom of the open road but still want the convenience of smart home technology, this might be helpful!

I’ve been using a mix of AVM hardware and Shelly devices at home, which have been fantastic. However, the RV presents a unique challenge with its 12V and 24V DC power systems. I’ve been researching hardware that can handle these voltages while still integrating seamlessly with my home automation setup.

One thing I’ve discovered is the importance of reliable sensors. I’ve been looking into temperature and humidity sensors that can withstand the varying climates an RV might encounter. I’d love to hear recommendations on brands or models that have worked well for others in similar situations.

Another area I’m exploring is the integration of level sensors for monitoring water levels in tanks. This would be a huge convenience, especially during long trips. I’m considering using a Raspberry Pi 4 as the central control unit, as it’s been reliable in my stationary setup. Does anyone have experience with RV-specific setups using a Raspberry Pi?

I’d also love to hear about any success stories or challenges others have faced when adapting smart home technology for an RV lifestyle. Whether it’s about power management, sensor placement, or integration with existing systems, I’m all ears!

Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other create the ultimate smart RV setup. Happy travels and happy automating! :red_car::sparkles:
