I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to light my stairwell when it’s occupied. It’s an L-shaped stairwell, and the lower half opens into the living room, which makes it tricky to place a motion sensor without picking up activity from the living room. The upper section curves into a narrow hallway, adding to the challenge. I’ve considered using a motion sensor, but it can only monitor one half of the stairwell effectively. I’ve also thought about vibration sensors, but I’m not sure if they’d be reliable enough. What would be ideal is a laser-type sensor that points to a specific spot on a stairstep and triggers the light when someone steps on it. This way, the light would only come on when someone is actually using the stairs. I’d love to hear if anyone else has tackled this problem or has any creative solutions to share. Maybe there’s a smarter way to detect movement without overcomplicating things. Let me know your thoughts!
