I’ve been exploring options for under-cabinet lighting and came across some interesting solutions that I’d like to share. My main requirements are RGB and tunable white capabilities, the ability to cut the strips into segments (as short as 8 inches and up to 36 inches), and easy splicing without soldering. I also want these strips to be controlled via Z-Wave or Philips Hue.
Currently, I have some basic cool white LEDs that aren’t tunable or dimmable, just on/off via a Z-Wave outlet. I’d love to upgrade to something more versatile. I’ve looked into Philips Hue products, but reviews suggest their cutting and splicing don’t work well, which is a deal-breaker for me.
I have five cabinets that need strips of various lengths: 10, 21, 22, 26, and 34 inches. Wrapping around corners might allow for longer segments, but I’m not sure if that’s feasible. One challenge is a bridge splice that needs to be about 8 feet long to go back to the wall, up inside a cabinet, and over the microwave/stove hood.
Has anyone found a product that meets these requirements? I’d love to hear recommendations or experiences with similar setups. If not, maybe there’s a workaround or a combination of products that could achieve the desired result. Let me know your thoughts!
