I recently embarked on a journey to enhance my home’s lighting system with smart technology, and I wanted to share my experiences and tips with the community. My goal was to integrate Philips Wiz Colors 40W E14 C37 bulbs into my existing setup, which includes a ConBee II hub. I was curious about their compatibility and how seamlessly they would work together. After some research and experimentation, I found that the integration process was smoother than expected, and the bulbs performed exceptionally well in terms of color accuracy and brightness control.
Another aspect I explored was optimizing my energy management setup. I have a few GOSUND smart plugs in use, and while they are not ESP-based, I managed to tweak their integration with my system. Initially, I faced some challenges with incorrect power usage readings and the absence of kWh data in the energy management overview. However, through some trial and error, I discovered a workaround that involved adjusting the sensor configuration in my sensor.yaml file. By dividing the power readings by 10 and setting the appropriate device class, I was able to correct the data discrepancies. Additionally, I utilized a template sensor and the Riemann sum integral method to accurately calculate energy consumption, which now integrates perfectly into my energy management setup.
I’d love to hear from others who have tackled similar issues or have alternative solutions to share. Whether it’s about smart lighting, energy management, or any other smart home project, the community’s collective wisdom is invaluable. Let’s continue to support each other in making our homes smarter and more efficient!
