Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and thoughts with you all.
First off, I’ve been on the hunt for a reliable smart lock solution. After some research, I came across the Lockly Secure Pro, which seems like a solid choice. It’s Alexa-enabled out of the box, which is a huge plus for me since I’m already deep into the Alexa ecosystem. However, I was disappointed to find out that it doesn’t support SmartThings integration yet. I’ve heard rumors that this might be added in the future, but until then, I’m exploring workarounds.
One idea I’ve been tinkering with is using the Alexa Virtual Switch to create routines that monitor the lock’s status. For example, I’d love to have an automation that sends me a notification if the door is left unlocked for too long. I’ve also been experimenting with setting up a simple system where the lock’s status updates in real-time within the Alexa app. It’s a bit of a hack, but it’s working so far!
On another note, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell. The firmware update they released recently has made it even more reliable, especially with the improved handling of TCP disconnections and Wi-Fi dropouts. The video quality is fantastic, and the motion detection is spot on. I’ve set it up to send me push notifications, and it’s been a game-changer for keeping an eye on my property.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on smart lock integration and any clever automations you’ve set up with your devices. Have you found a way to bridge the gap between different ecosystems like I’m trying to do? Drop your tips and tricks below—I’m all ears!
Cheers,
