I’ve recently been diving into the world of smart locks and custom automation, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community. First, I’d like to highlight how impressive the integration capabilities of modern smart locks are. For instance, my Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 has been a fantastic addition to my home security setup. It seamlessly integrates with my existing smart home ecosystem, allowing for automated routines based on my schedule or manual overrides through the companion app.
However, I’ve encountered a minor issue with the lock’s calibration. When I press the ‘Open Door’ button, the mechanism sometimes moves a bit too far, resulting in an audible click that’s noticeable in quiet settings. I’ve tried recalibrating the lock through the app, but the issue persists. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did you resolve it? I’d love to hear your insights!
On a different note, I’ve been experimenting with creating custom countdown timers using the Vera plugin mentioned in one of the posts. It’s been a fantastic way to automate tasks without relying on more complex scripting languages like Luup. For example, I’ve set up a timer that turns off my hallway lights after 15 minutes of inactivity, which has been a great energy-saving hack. The ability to trigger events through scenes has also opened up new possibilities for my smart home setup.
One feature I’d love to see more of is integration with location-based services, such as detecting whether I’m at a supermarket or gas station and triggering specific automations based on that. While I’ve managed to set up some basic rules using my phone’s geolocation, it’s not as seamless as I’d hoped. Has anyone successfully implemented something similar, or have tips on how to improve this setup?
Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone in the community for their incredible support and willingness to share knowledge. It’s truly inspiring to see how many creative solutions and troubleshooting tips are available, and it’s made my smart home journey much more enjoyable!
Cheers to all the innovators out there! ![]()
