Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart locks and Z-Wave integration, and I wanted to share my experiences and questions with the community.
I recently purchased the Kwikset 620 smart locks, hoping to integrate them seamlessly into my existing Z-Wave network. However, I’ve encountered some challenges that I’m eager to resolve. The locks occasionally become unresponsive and cause network interference, which has led to daily reboots—a bit of a inconvenience with five locks in use.
I’ve tried optimizing the setup by updating firmware on both my C8 and C8 Pro hubs, using both Z/IP gateway and Z-Wave JS. Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I read that the Kwikset 620 uses the 700 chipset, which should support Z-Wave LR, so I decided to give that a shot.
Using Jeff’s SmartStart app, I followed the process of substituting the lock for a virtual lock, excluding it, pulling the battery pack, and reinserting it with SmartStart LR configuration. Unfortunately, the lock didn’t include itself as expected, and after multiple attempts, I’m still stuck.
I’m wondering if there’s a step I might have missed or if others have successfully integrated these locks with Z-Wave LR. Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!
