Exploring Smart Locks and Sensors: My Journey with Nuki and Zooz

As I dive deeper into the world of smart home technology, I’m constantly discovering new devices and features that make my life more convenient. Today, I’d like to share some of my recent experiences and thoughts on a few gadgets that have caught my attention.

The Nuki Opener Mystery

One of my favorite devices is the Nuki Opener, which I’ve installed alongside the Nuki Smart Lock and Bridge. Almost everything works seamlessly, but there’s one peculiar issue I’ve encountered. When using the “RING TO OPEN” feature, only the inner door opens, and waiting or ringing multiple times doesn’t help. I’ve connected the Opener to a Siedle BTS850-02, and I’m curious if anyone else has faced a similar problem or has a solution. It’s a bit puzzling, but I’m hopeful there’s a fix out there!

Zooz Sensors: Battery Life Insights

Another area I’ve been exploring is Zooz sensors, particularly their ZSE41 Open/Close and ZSE42 Leak Sensor models. I’ve been benchmarking their power usage and have noticed some impressive improvements in battery life with the newer 800LR models. For instance, the ZSE41 800LR Open/Close sensor boasts an idle current of just 0.48 uA, which is a significant drop from the older model. This translates to a projected battery life of over 3 years with average usage. It’s fantastic to see such advancements, but I’m still curious to know how these numbers hold up in real-world scenarios.

Tapo Sensor Integration

On the topic of sensors, I’ve recently acquired a Tapo T315 sensor and am trying to integrate it into my Homey Pro setup. I was under the impression that Homey Pro allows direct device pairing without additional bridges, but I’m struggling to connect the Tapo sensor. If anyone has successfully done this or has tips, I’d be grateful for the advice!

A Community-Focused Approach

It’s amazing how the smart home community comes together to share knowledge and troubleshoot issues. Whether it’s through forums like this or GitHub repositories, there’s always someone willing to help. I’ve found some useful device handlers for AEON door sensors and Zooz devices, but I’m still curious about the best practices for ensuring accurate battery level reporting.

If anyone has insights or experiences to share on these topics, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s continue to explore and learn together as we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of smart home technology. Happy tinkering! :rocket:
