Exploring Smart Plant Automation with Raspberry Pi and Smart Plugs

I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of automating my plant care routine, especially since I have a large number of plants that require precise photoperiods and consistent watering. After some research and experimentation, I’ve developed a system that I’d love to share with the community in case others are interested in similar automation.My setup involves using smart plugs, which I’ve flashed with custom firmware, to control various plant care devices like fans, water pumps, and heaters. These plugs are connected to a Raspberry Pi, which acts as the brain of the system. I’ve created a plant dashboard that streams data from my growing area every 5 seconds, allowing me to monitor and adjust conditions in real-time.One of the key features of this system is the use of ‘action cards,’ which are essentially digital controls that trigger specific actions based on sensor data. For example, if the humidity drops below a certain threshold, the system automatically turns on a humidifier.
