Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my recent experience with smart plugs and how they’ve transformed my home automation setup. A few weeks ago, I came across a budget-friendly smart plug on eBay and decided to give it a try. The plug claims compatibility with Alexa, and I’m curious to see if it can work seamlessly with my existing SmartThings ecosystem.
After setting it up, I noticed that while the plug works perfectly with Alexa, integrating it with SmartThings required a bit of tinkering. I ended up using my Raspberry Pi to create a simple proxy script, which allows SmartThings to communicate with the plug. This setup has been working like a charm, and I’m really happy with the results!
I’d love to hear from others who might have experimented with similar devices. Have you found any tricks or tools that make the integration process smoother? Also, if anyone has experience with PowerLAN adapters or RS-485 connectivity, I’d appreciate any insights you might have. It would be amazing to create a comprehensive guide for integrating various devices across different platforms.
Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most out of our smart home setups! ![]()
