Device Automation and Triggering
Another area I’ve been exploring is setting up more advanced automation rules. I’ve been using OR triggers in my rules to monitor multiple string items simultaneously. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m starting to see the potential. For example, I’ve set up a rule that checks if any of my devices are offline and sends me a notification. It’s been incredibly helpful for maintaining uptime across my setup.
Presence Detection and Geofencing
One feature that’s been on my wishlist is improving my presence detection and geofencing setup. I’ve got a few devices that detect when I’m home or away, but I’d love to integrate this more seamlessly with my smart plugs and lights. For instance, when I arrive home, I’d love for my lights to turn on automatically without needing to interact with my phone. Has anyone had success with setting up such routines? Speaking of automation, I’ve been spending a lot of time tweaking my rules and ensuring they run smoothly. One thing I’ve noticed is the importance of logging.
