Exploring Smart Presence and Flow Automation

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. I recently installed the Smart Presence app to monitor when my family members are at home, and it’s been pretty cool so far. I set it up with my Fritzbox IP addresses, and it’s been reliably detecting when my girlfriend is around. However, I’ve noticed a bit of an issue when she toggles her Wi-Fi multiple times throughout the day—it triggers the greeting flow every single time. While that’s technically working as intended, it’s a bit repetitive and not exactly seamless.

I was thinking, maybe there’s a way to make this flow smarter. What if the greeting only activates if she hasn’t been home for a certain period, say 3 days? That way, it wouldn’t ping her every time she walks into the room or switches her phone off. I’m not entirely sure how to implement this, though. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for setting up a more sophisticated presence detection system? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!

On another note, I’ve also been exploring Matter devices from various brands like Eve, Aqara, and Nanoleaf. It’s fascinating to see how Thread 1.4 is rolling out, especially with Apple’s updates for the Apple TV. I’m curious about how this will impact my existing setup. Will my devices automatically update to Thread 1.4 once my Apple TV does, or will I need to manually configure them? Any insights here would be super helpful!

Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with the new Matter.js add-on in Home Assistant. It’s still in beta, but it seems promising. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s given it a try—how stable has it been for you, and have you noticed any improvements over the older Python-based Matter server? I’m excited to see how this evolves!

All in all, it’s been an incredible journey exploring these tools and seeing how they can enhance my daily life. I’m eager to learn more and refine my setup further. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your experiences and advice!
