Exploring Smart Thermostat Functionality and Compatibility

Hello everyone, I’m new to the Tado community and I’m excited to dive into the world of smart thermostats. I recently came across the Tado Wireless Smart Thermostat and I’m curious about its versatility. Specifically, I’m wondering if the wireless thermostat can double as a temperature sensor for my Smart TRVs.

From what I understand, there are three main Tado products: the wired smart thermostat, the wireless smart thermostat, and the standalone temperature sensor. The wireless smart thermostat includes a temperature sensor in its package, but I’m not entirely sure if it’s identical to the standalone sensor or if they serve different purposes.

I’m also curious about the functionality differences. Does the wireless thermostat have the capability to control the boiler directly, or does it rely on the receiver for that? I’ve read some posts where users seem to differentiate between the two, but I’m not entirely clear on the specifics.

If anyone has experience using the wireless thermostat in this way or can shed light on the differences between the thermostat and the standalone sensor, I’d greatly appreciate your insights. It would be fantastic to utilize the thermostat as a sensor to keep things simple and avoid having multiple devices.

Thank you in advance for your help and for sharing your experiences! I’m looking forward to learning more about the capabilities of the Tado system.
