I’ve been diving into the world of smart thermostats and Z-Wave integration lately, and I wanted to share my experiences and questions with you all.
Recently, I’ve been searching for a Z-Wave thermostat that supports 4 heat and 2 cool stages. My HVAC setup includes a Trane XL16i heat pump and an XV80 furnace, so finding the right thermostat has been a bit of a challenge. I’ve heard great things about the Trane XL900, but I’m curious if anyone else has successfully integrated a similar thermostat into their Z-Wave network.
One thing I’m particularly interested in is the EHEAT mode, which I understand is crucial for locking out the compressor during extremely cold outdoor temperatures. While I don’t experience temperatures below the teens in the winter, I’d still like to ensure my system is protected.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has dealt with this kind of setup or has advice on finding the perfect thermostat. Additionally, if anyone has tips on optimizing Z-Wave integration for HVAC systems, I’d be thrilled to learn more!
On another note, I’ve also been exploring smart switches and how they can be integrated into my existing setup. If anyone has experience with dual-function switches or creative ways to control both traditional and smart devices, I’d love to hear about your setups.
