Hi everyone, I’m currently exploring smart thermostat options for my new home, which has five separate zones. Each zone is currently equipped with a Honeywell dial thermostat, and the heating system uses hydronic baseboard heat. The challenge I’m facing is that each thermostat only has two wires, which limits my options for upgrading to a smart system. I was initially hoping to use Ecobee thermostats, but I’m not sure if they’re compatible with this setup.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully integrated smart thermostats in a similar multi-zone environment. What brands or models have worked well for you? Are there any specific features or considerations I should be aware of when choosing a thermostat for this kind of system? I’m particularly interested in options that offer good compatibility, ease of installation, and reliable performance.
If anyone has experience with alternative solutions or workarounds for two-wire setups, I’d be grateful for any insights or recommendations. Let’s discuss and find the best way to smarten up my heating system for the upcoming winter!
