Exploring Smart Thermostat Solutions for District Heating

As I delve into the world of smart home automation, I’ve been exploring ways to integrate my existing district heating system with modern smart devices. Our home receives a continuous flow of warm water through a manual valve, and each room has its own radiator thermostat. While this setup works, I’m eager to take it to the next level by replacing the manual radiator knobs with Danfoss Living Connect thermostats for better control and efficiency.

However, I’ve encountered a potential issue. If I replace the manual main valve with an automatic one controlled by Vera, there’s a risk that warm water might still flow even when all radiators are closed. To address this, I’ve come across the Honeywell Y-VC8015, which seems capable of managing the main valve. But I’m unsure about the best way to control it effectively. Should I use a switch, a temperature reader, or another thermostat? Or is there a simpler solution I’m missing?

I’ve reached out to the community to gather insights and experiences. Has anyone successfully integrated a similar setup? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? I’m excited to hear your thoughts and learn from your experiences in this fascinating journey of smart home automation! :star2:
