As someone who’s been experimenting with smart home technology for a while, I’ve been really curious about finding the best way to integrate smart thermostats into my home. My current setup has 5 PTAC units spread across 2 bedrooms and 3 in the living area, each with its own receiver/transmitter duo. While they work for heating and cooling, I’d love to modernize this system with something more intuitive and controllable via my phone or Home Assistant.
I’ve heard great things about Ecobee and Honeywell, but I’m not entirely sure how they’d work with multiple units. From what I gather, it might involve buying a smart thermostat for each PTAC and possibly adding thermal sensors for each room. But I’m not entirely certain about the specifics—would I need one sensor per room, or could I get away with fewer? And how would the integration with Google Home or Home Assistant work?
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled a similar setup. Have you successfully integrated multiple smart thermostats? What brands did you go with, and were there any particular challenges or tips you’d share? I’m also curious about the reliability and latency differences between Wi-Fi and Zigbee versions of devices like the Sonoff. Any insights would be super helpful!
On a lighter note, it’s amazing how much smarter our homes can get with just a few adjustments. I can’t wait to see how this project turns out and how it impacts my daily routine. Thanks in advance for any advice!
