Exploring Smart Thermostatic Radiator Valves for Home Automation

Over the past few years, I’ve been using Tado to manage my home heating, but I’m on the hunt for something better. I’ve recently set up Home Assistant on an Orange Pi 5 Plus, and I want to integrate more controllable TRVs into my setup. My goal is to group these TRVs into zones, monitor and adjust room temperatures, and control my boiler efficiently.

After researching, I’ve come across the Shelly TRVs, which seem like a great fit. They use rechargeable batteries, addressing one of my main concerns about battery life, and their Wi-Fi connectivity is a huge plus since I have strong coverage throughout my house. Plus, Shelly devices integrate seamlessly with Home Assistant, which is a big win for me.

While I’m leaning towards the Shelly TRVs, I’m curious if there are other models that might offer better performance or additional features. If anyone has experience with other brands or models, I’d love to hear your insights and recommendations! Let’s keep the conversation going and explore the best options for smart home heating control.
