Exploring Smart Water Shut-Off Valve Controllers with High Torque

Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking into getting a smart water shut-off valve controller for our main water line. The house was built in 2008, and while the plumbing isn’t too old, I noticed the main shut-off valve has some rust buildup. After cleaning it up, I realized it still requires quite a bit of force to operate—especially the first third of the turn, which is manageable, but the last two-thirds are much tougher. I’m curious if anyone else has dealt with similar issues and what solutions they’ve found.

I’ve heard that not all smart water shut-off valve controllers offer the same torque, so I’m wondering if there are specific models that handle higher torque requirements better. I’m also considering whether it might be worth consulting a plumber to either replace the valve or install a new one above the existing one for easier operation.

If anyone has recommendations or experiences to share, I’d greatly appreciate it! I’m eager to find a reliable solution that can handle the valve’s needs without any hassle.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Best regards,
