Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts!
I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration and have some experiences to share, as well as a few questions that have been on my mind. Let me start by sharing my journey with the WyzeCam v2 and CamPlus motion tracking.
I’ve set up a few cameras around my home, and while they’ve been great for monitoring, I’ve been having some trouble downloading videos directly from the app. I’ve tried both my iPhone and iPad, but the download keeps failing. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or workarounds would be greatly appreciated! ![]()
On another note, I’ve been exploring the integration of different smart home devices and came across some interesting discussions about using Google Home alongside SmartThings.
I have a GE Switch connected to my SmartThings hub, named “Rear Floodlights,” and while it works perfectly with voice commands through Google Home, I noticed something peculiar. Google Home seems to classify it as an outlet rather than a switch. The default icon in my SmartThings app is also an outlet, which is a bit confusing. Does anyone know why this might be happening or how to correct it? ![]()
Moving on to OpenHAB, I’ve been experimenting with setting up rules to control audio output from my Raspberry Pi 3.
I have a USB audio card plugged in, and I’m curious if it’s possible to differentiate between the on-board 3.5mm audio output and the USB audio output while making rules. From what I’ve gathered, there are three basic sinks: enhancedjavasound, javasound, and webaudio. I’ve got enhancedjavasound working for the on-board jack, but I’m not sure how to route audio to the USB card. Any insights or experiences with this would be fantastic! ![]()
Lastly, I wanted to share my experience with the Govee light strips I recently received as part of their Father’s Day event.
They’re absolutely beautiful, and I love the vibrant colors they can produce. However, I’m still figuring out the best way to control them through my phone. I’ve read that there are some limitations with iPhone integration, but I’m hopeful there’s a workaround. If anyone has tips on simplifying the control process, I’d love to hear them! ![]()
Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of setting up and customizing my smart home, but there are definitely some hurdles to overcome. I’d love to hear from others who might have faced similar challenges or have advice to share. Let’s keep the conversation going! ![]()
