Hi everyone,
I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately and have come across some fascinating opportunities and challenges. One thing that’s really caught my attention is the potential of MQTT brokers for seamless device communication. Currently, I’m working on a driver for a device that uses MQTT, and it’s been quite the journey. While I’d prefer to keep things local, as many in the Hubitat community advocate, the need for an MQTT broker on HE hubs is something I’d love to see addressed. It would eliminate the need for additional hardware and streamline integration efforts.
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with integrating devices across different ecosystems. The idea of mirroring Hubitat devices on SmartThings is intriguing, especially for those of us who have invested in both platforms. I’m curious to hear how others are leveraging this integration and if there are any unexpected benefits or hurdles they’ve encountered.
Lastly, I stumbled upon some discussions about setting up devices without smartphones, which I find both innovative and practical. It’s great to see the community exploring alternative methods for device configuration, especially for those who might not have easy access to a smartphone.
Looking forward to hearing your experiences and insights!
Best regards,
