I’ve been diving into the world of SmartThings and have had a lot of fun experimenting with their APIs. Recently, I’ve been trying to integrate voice commands and virtual keys into my setup. While I’ve managed to get the basics working, I’m hitting a bit of a wall when it comes to using voice commands to trigger API calls. Has anyone else tackled this? I’d love to hear about your experiences or any tips you might have!
One thing I’ve noticed is how versatile the SmartThings ecosystem is. For instance, I’ve been able to set up my Philips Hue outdoor sensors, though I’ve had to tweak the device handler a bit to get everything working smoothly. It’s a shame that there isn’t an official handler for these sensors yet, but it’s been a great learning experience to modify the existing code myself.
Another project I’ve been working on is trying to get my Shelly Motion sensors fully integrated. The live stream I came across was super helpful, but I’m still figuring out the best way to utilize all the features. It’s amazing how these devices can enhance home security and automation when set up correctly.
I’d also love to hear from anyone who’s successfully integrated multiple brands into their SmartThings setup. I’m always on the lookout for new ways to streamline my home automation and make it more intuitive. Whether it’s through voice commands, virtual keys, or just clever device configurations, I’m all ears!
Let’s keep the conversation going and share our tips, tricks, and experiences. Happy automating! ![]()
