I’ve been diving into the world of SmartThings automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of my recent projects has been setting up a system to automatically close my garage door if it’s left open past a certain time. I’ve got a tilt sensor and a Linear relay in place, and I’m using SmartThings to handle the logic.
Here’s what I’ve done so far: I’ve configured the tilt sensor to detect when the garage door is open. Then, I’ve set up a rule in SmartThings to check the status of the tilt sensor at 9 PM every night. If the door is still open, the Linear relay kicks in to close it. It’s been working like a charm, but I’m always looking for ways to refine it further.
One thing I’m curious about is whether there’s a more efficient way to handle the automation, maybe using a different app or integrating it with other smart home devices. I’d love to hear from others who’ve tackled similar projects or have tips on optimizing these kinds of setups. Let’s keep the conversation going and share our experiences! ![]()
