Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation with Wyze thermostats and I wanted to share my experiences and some questions I have along the way.
First off, I’ve successfully installed two Wyze thermostats and linked them to my SmartThings setup. The ability to control them through the SmartThings app is pretty seamless, and I love how they integrate with other devices in my ecosystem. However, I’ve run into a bit of a snag when it comes to sharing these thermostats with my partner’s iPad. Despite sending the share invitation and accepting it, the thermostats still don’t show up on their device. I’ve tried closing and reopening the app, signing out and back in, and even refreshing the list, but no luck so far. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
On a more positive note, I’ve been impressed with the data export feature in the latest beta release of the Wyze app. It’s incredibly useful to have access to my thermostat’s battery status and historical data. This has already helped me optimize my energy usage, which is a huge plus!
Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is creating custom automations using the Rule Machine. I’m particularly interested in using the Random and Cancelable features to make my home feel more lived-in when I’m away. For instance, I’d love to set my lights to turn on at random intervals within a specific time window. I’m curious about how truly random this feature is—would it vary enough to fool potential burglars? And regarding Cancelable, I’m not entirely sure how it affects my rules. If anyone has insights or examples, I’d love to hear them!
Lastly, I wanted to mention the success I’ve had with repurposing some Bosch motion detectors for use with SmartThings. It took a bit of research and tweaking, but they’re now seamlessly integrated into my security setup. If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d be happy to share the resources I found!
Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of building out my smart home, and I’m excited to see what new features and integrations will come next. Thanks for reading, and feel free to share your own tips or experiences in the comments below!
