Hi everyone! I’m relatively new to the SmartThings ecosystem and have been exploring its capabilities, particularly with Z-Wave devices. I wanted to clarify whether all Z-Wave devices are compatible with the SmartThings system. I currently have the medium kit and am excited to expand my setup, but I want to ensure compatibility before making any purchases.
Another area I’m curious about is automated lighting. While I understand the concept of using smart bulbs, I’m not entirely comfortable with the idea of relying solely on the app to control them. I often prefer the convenience of a physical switch, especially when I’m in a hurry or don’t have my phone handy. Is there a hardware solution that allows me to use both a physical switch and maintain remote control capabilities? I’m imagining a setup where I can toggle the lights with a switch in the room while still having the flexibility to control them remotely through the SmartThings app.
I’m also interested in hearing about others’ experiences with integrating physical switches into their smart lighting systems. Have you found any particular devices or configurations that work exceptionally well? Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
