Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices lately, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how much I’ve been able to automate my space. Today, I wanted to share some of my experiences and ask a few questions to the community, as I’m still learning the ropes.
First off, I recently upgraded to the Samsung SmartThings Hub 2018 (v3) and I’m loving the ease of use and the variety of devices it supports. However, I’ve encountered a peculiar issue where my Zigbee devices seem to be offline, even though my Samsung Soundbar, TV, and camera are all functioning perfectly. I received an email from SmartThings about a Zigbee update being halted, and I’m wondering if this could be related. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, did you find a workaround or downgrade method? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Moving on to cameras, I’ve been experimenting with both Netgear VMB3000 and Arlo VMS3330 basestations. I’m curious if anyone has successfully connected cameras from one brand to the other basestation. It would be amazing to have a unified system without worrying about compatibility issues. If you’ve managed this, please share your setup!
Another topic I’d love to discuss is the Govee app. I’ve been using it for a while now, and while it’s great, I’d love to see more features, like combining shortcuts into one action. Imagine being able to set up a party mode where the DJ can hit play and enjoy the vibe without fiddling with multiple controls. Would this be something others would find useful too?
Lastly, I’ve been exploring energy monitoring and am considering redesigning my setup for my new house. I’m torn between using Powercalc for grouping or relying on the upstream device mechanism in the energy dashboard. If anyone has experience with either method, I’d appreciate hearing about your setup and which approach you found more effective.
This journey into smart home automation has been both challenging and rewarding, and I’m grateful for communities like this that help me learn and grow. If you have any tips, experiences, or solutions to the issues I’ve mentioned, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other create smarter, more connected homes.
Cheers,
