Exploring SmartThings Integration and Device Setup

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions. I recently tried setting up the SmartThings integration in Home Assistant, but I ran into some issues. The integration wouldn’t load, so I deleted it and now I’m unable to reinstall it. I checked the logs and it seems there’s an API error related to a malformed request. I’m not entirely sure how to fix this, so if anyone has encountered a similar issue or knows how to troubleshoot it, I’d really appreciate the help!

On a different note, I’ve been experimenting with adding new devices to my setup. I recently purchased a Shelly 1 and tried to add it via the temporary network, but it didn’t show up. I followed the instructions to add it by IP address, but the device still wasn’t visible. I suspect I might need to reset it, but I can’t find an obvious way to do that. I already have six other devices working perfectly, so this is a bit frustrating. Has anyone else had trouble adding a Shelly device?

Another thing I’ve been curious about is the input_boolean component. I noticed that the state values are “on” and “off” instead of the more universally recognized “true” and “false.” I wonder if there’s a way to make these states more flexible, allowing both “on”/“off” and “true”/“false” to work interchangeably. It would be really helpful for consistency, especially when integrating with other systems.

Lastly, I’ve been exploring some new devices like the Govee Star Light Projector and the LG TV volume control integration. The Govee projector has been a great addition to my basement, and I’m excited to see how it integrates with my existing setup. As for the LG TV, I’ve managed to set up the power control using Switchable metadata, but I’m struggling with getting the volume control to work properly. I tried using the Lighting.Brightness metadata, but it doesn’t seem to be the right fit. Any suggestions on how to get the volume control working seamlessly would be appreciated!

Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of building my smart home ecosystem, but there are definitely some hurdles to overcome. I’d love to hear from others who have faced similar challenges or have tips for improving my setup. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your insights!
