I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of the most intriguing aspects for me has been integrating different ecosystems, particularly SmartThings with Google Home. I stumbled upon an interesting issue while setting up routines, and I thought it would be a great topic to discuss here.
So, here’s the deal: I’ve created a routine in SmartThings that includes disarming my smart home monitoring system. When I trigger this routine directly through the SmartThings app, it works like a charm. However, the moment I try to call this routine via Google Home, the disarming part just doesn’t happen. Everything else in the routine—like turning on lights or adjusting the thermostat—works perfectly fine. It’s only the disarming feature that seems to be ignored when triggered through Google Home.
I’ve tested this extensively, and it consistently fails when disarming is involved. However, arming the system (whether it’s stay or away mode) works seamlessly through Google Home. This inconsistency is puzzling, and I’m curious if others have encountered the same issue or found a workaround.
I’ve also considered whether this might be a bug on Samsung’s end. If that’s the case, I might need to report it officially. But before taking that step, I wanted to reach out to the community to see if there’s a solution or a different approach I could try.
On a lighter note, this little hiccup hasn’t dampened my enthusiasm for smart home integration. It’s moments like these that remind me how much there is to learn and explore in this space. I’m eager to hear your thoughts, experiences, and any tips you might have!
Cheers to continuous learning and smarter homes! ![]()
