Exploring SmartThings Integration with Vacuum Cleaners

Hi everyone, I’m new to the world of smart home automation and I’m really excited to dive into it. I’ve been doing some research on robot vacuums and how they can integrate with SmartThings. I’ve come across a few options like the Roomba 650, Roomba 980, Neato Connected, and Samsung POWERbot. I’m trying to figure out which one would be the best fit for my setup.

From what I understand, the Roomba 650 can work with SmartThings if I add a Thinking Cleaner plate, but I’m not sure how seamless that integration would be. The Roomba 980 seems like a more advanced option, but I’m concerned about the cost and whether it’s worth the upgrade. The Neato Connected is another option that I’ve heard good things about, but I’m not sure how it compares to the others in terms of compatibility and features.

The Samsung POWERbot caught my attention because it’s supposedly supported by SmartThings out of the box. That sounds really convenient, but I’m not sure what kind of automation and control I can expect with it. I’ve also heard that integrating with SmartThings might require some additional setup, like using a Raspberry Pi, but I’m not very tech-savvy, so I’m hoping there’s a simpler way.

I’ve also come across some discussions about using third-party apps or scripts to enhance the integration. I’m curious if anyone has had success with that and if it’s something I could try. I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with these vacuums and how they’ve set them up with SmartThings. Any tips, recommendations, or even warnings would be really helpful!

This is such an exciting space to be in, and I’m really looking forward to getting my hands dirty and seeing what I can create. Thanks in advance for all the advice and support!
