Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my recent experience with SmartThings and how I’ve managed to integrate it into my daily life. As a long-time programmer and system integrator, I’ve always been curious about how technology can make our lives easier, especially when it comes to home automation.
One of the challenges I’ve faced is managing the music in my kids’ rooms. I wanted a way to pause their Sonos players automatically when they leave for school or go out. After some research, I found that existing SmartApps didn’t quite meet my needs, so I decided to create my own solution. I developed a parent/child SmartApp that allows me to associate specific motion detectors with Sonos speakers and set a timeout period. This way, if there’s no motion detected for a certain amount of time, the music pauses automatically. It’s been working beautifully with Sonos, and I hope it can be useful for others too!
I’d love to hear if anyone has tried this app with other music players or if there are any improvements I could make. Feel free to reach out with any feedback or suggestions!
On a lighter note, I’m also really looking forward to summer! It’s been a long junior year, and I’m excited for the break ahead.
What fun things are you all planning for the summer?
