Hi everyone, I recently purchased the SmartThings Vision Sensor and I’m really excited about its potential for enhancing my home security setup. However, I’ve encountered a bit of a hurdle—I noticed that it doesn’t seem to be supported in Home Assistant at the moment. I thought I’d share my experience and see if anyone else has faced similar challenges or found a workaround.
First, I did a bit of research and checked the official documentation and community forums. It appears that while the sensor is compatible with SmartThings, integrating it into Home Assistant might require some additional steps or custom configurations. I tried setting it up through the Zigbee network, but unfortunately, it didn’t show up in my device list. I also explored the possibility of using third-party integrations or custom scripts, but I’m not quite sure where to start.
I decided to try a different approach by using the MQTT protocol, as I’ve had success with it in the past. I configured my sensor to publish updates to an MQTT broker, but I’m still not seeing the expected data in Home Assistant. I suspect there might be a configuration issue on my end, but I’m not entirely sure how to troubleshoot it further.
One thing I noticed is that the sensor works perfectly with SmartThings, so I know it’s functioning correctly. It would be fantastic if there was a way to bridge the data from SmartThings into Home Assistant seamlessly. I’m also curious if others have managed to integrate their SmartThings Vision Sensors into their Home Assistant setups and if there are any best practices or tips they could share.
I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences. If anyone has successfully integrated this sensor or has some advice on how to proceed, I’d greatly appreciate it! Let’s keep the conversation going and see if we can find a solution together. ![]()
