Exploring Temperature Monitoring Solutions in Home Automation

Hi everyone! I’ve been exploring ways to integrate temperature monitoring into my home automation setup, and I thought I’d share my journey and experiences with you. :thermometer:

First off, I came across the topic of using a Raspberry Pi with a BMP180 sensor to monitor temperature and humidity in a greenhouse. It’s a fantastic DIY project, and I’m really intrigued by how to get this data into Home Assistant. Does anyone have experience with this? I’m looking for guidance on the best platforms or scripts to use for integration. :herb:

On another note, I’ve been using a Wyze Solar Cam Pan, which is great for outdoor monitoring. However, I noticed it doesn’t track vehicles, only people. I’m wondering if there’s a setting I’m missing or if this is a known limitation. Any insights would be appreciated! :red_car:

Returning to the temperature monitoring theme, I’ve also been curious about commercial solutions. I’ve used an ESP32 with ThinkSpeak before for moisture monitoring, but I’m now looking for a ready-to-use, internet-enabled sensor for a rented storage unit. I’d love to hear if anyone has recommendations for reliable, commercial-grade solutions that integrate seamlessly with Home Assistant. :classical_building:

In my own setup, I’ve been experimenting with using Hubitat to control lights and automate scenes. It’s been a learning curve, especially with configuring rules for multiple lights. I’d love to hear how others manage similar setups and if there are tips or tricks to improve efficiency and reduce latency. :star2:

Lastly, I stumbled upon the idea of integrating weather data directly from Honeywell thermostats. It would be fantastic to have outdoor temperature and humidity data without relying on additional sensors. If anyone has successfully done this or has insights, I’d be grateful for the advice! :sun_behind_small_cloud:

Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of enhancing my home automation system, and I’m excited to learn from the community’s experiences and expertise. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your thoughts! :raised_hands:
