Hello everyone! I’ve been using a Raspberry Pi 4 with 2GB RAM for my home automation setup, and I’m considering an upgrade to the Pi 5. The price difference is minimal, which makes it even more tempting to go for the newer model. However, I’ve heard a few things about potential issues with HomeAssistant compatibility, and I’m not entirely sure if the performance difference will be worth it.
From what I understand, the Pi 5 offers improved performance and better power efficiency, which could be great for running more complex tasks or adding more devices to my setup. But I’m a bit concerned about the transition process. I’ve heard that restoring from a backup might be necessary due to hardware differences, which could be a bit of a hassle.
Has anyone here made the switch from Pi 4 to Pi 5? I’d love to hear about your experiences—both the pros and cons. Are the performance improvements significant enough to justify the switch, or is the Pi 4 still a solid choice for most use cases? Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!
