Exploring the Best Features of Wink in HE

After making the switch from Wink to HE about six months ago, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the platform’s capabilities. However, as someone who’s deeply involved in this community, I’ve realized there are a few features from Wink that I still miss. I’d love to engage in a discussion about these gaps and explore potential solutions together.

One of the standout features I miss from Wink is the Global Activity Page. It provided a clear overview of all actions happening in my smart home, showing who or what triggered each event. This was incredibly useful for troubleshooting and understanding system behavior. While HE’s logs are detailed, they lack the user-friendly interface that Wink offered.

Another feature I’d love to see in HE is a Home Sitter mode. Wink’s version randomized light usage to mimic human behavior, which is great for deterring burglars. Additionally, it could play music through Sonos devices, adding to the illusion of an occupied home. I’ve tried using Alexa Guard for this purpose, but it doesn’t quite replicate the full experience.

Lastly, the Sonos integration in Wink was superior. It allowed seamless control over playlists and favorites, which I’ve yet to find in HE. While RM provides some functionality, it’s not as seamless, and setting up a NodeJS server introduces another layer of complexity.

I’d love to hear from others who might have found solutions or workarounds for these gaps. Whether it’s through custom apps, integrations, or clever rule setups, your insights could help us bridge these features in HE. Let’s collaborate to make HE even better!

Cheers,
