Exploring the Best Local Camera Monitoring Solutions

I’ve been on a quest to find the ultimate setup for monitoring my multiple cameras locally, and I’d love to share my journey and insights with the community.

For starters, I’ve experimented with various solutions like RTSP, TinyCam Pro on a Fire Stick, and even the web viewer on my phone. While these options have their merits, the hardware limitations of the Fire Stick have pushed me to explore other avenues. My wife recently purchased a Nest Hub Max for similar purposes, but I’m not holding my breath for stellar performance from it.

My latest exploration led me to consider wiping an old laptop and installing Android TV, or perhaps going with a Fire TV Cube with Wi-Fi 6 and a dedicated monitor. The goal is to achieve the best quality stream with the most seamless experience possible.

I’ve heard whispers about Linux-based DVR setups and Android IDK solutions, but I’m curious if there’s a universally accepted setup that dominates in terms of performance and ease of use. Is there a combination of hardware and software that consistently delivers top-notch results?

I’d love to hear from others who’ve tackled similar challenges. What setups have worked wonders for you? Any tips on optimizing performance or ensuring smooth local streaming? Let’s pool our knowledge and experiences to find the ultimate solution! :star2:
