Exploring the Flexibility of TTS Options in Smart Homes

As a homeowner who’s deeply into smart home automation, I’ve always been fascinated by the potential of Text-to-Speech (TTS) systems to enhance my living experience. Recently, I’ve been exploring ways to make my TTS setup more versatile, allowing me to integrate WAV/MP3 files, set custom delays, and even use variables like %time% or %device%. For instance, I’d love to create a speak string that plays a door chime sound, waits a bit, and then announces that the back door has been opened. While I’ve managed to achieve some of this using Rule Machine, it’s become quite tedious, especially when scaling up. I’m curious if others have found a more streamlined solution, perhaps through Message Central or other TTS management tools. Have you had similar experiences or discovered any tricks to simplify this process? I’d love to hear your insights and tips!
