As I continue to expand my smart home setup, I’ve been amazed by the flexibility and integration capabilities of Wyze and Shelly devices. I recently added a Wyze camera to my setup, and while I was initially concerned about compatibility with my existing Shelly devices, I’ve found that they work seamlessly together.
One of the standout features I’ve discovered is the ability to sideload updates to the Wyze beta app. This has been incredibly helpful in troubleshooting login issues and ensuring that my cameras remain accessible across multiple apps. While I’ve encountered the occasional login prompt requiring an MFA code, the convenience of having my security cameras fully integrated into my smart home ecosystem has been worth it.
I’ve also been experimenting with Shelly dimmers in my home. Initially, I faced some challenges when pairing a Gira universal dimmer with a Shelly dimmer. However, after some research and adjustments, I found that both devices can coexist without issues. This has allowed me to maintain the aesthetic of my existing dimmer setup while adding the smart capabilities of Shelly.
Another area I’ve been exploring is the integration of OpenTherm with my heating system. Using a Tado thermostat, I’ve been able to monitor and verify the settings sent to my boiler. While there have been occasional quirks, such as the boiler staying on even when no heat was requested, I’ve found that using an OTGateway to monitor OpenTherm commands has been a reliable workaround.
Overall, my journey with Wyze and Shelly devices has been a mix of challenges and triumphs. The community support and the wealth of resources available have been invaluable in helping me troubleshoot and optimize my setup. I’m excited to continue exploring the possibilities of these devices and seeing how they can further enhance my smart home experience.
If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Wyze or Shelly devices, I’d love to hear them! Happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
