I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of my recent projects has been integrating Wyze cameras with the SmartThings ecosystem. While I’ve managed to get everything up and running, there’s one issue that’s been on my mind, and I thought I’d share it with the community in case someone else has encountered the same thing or might have a solution.First, let me give you a quick overview of my setup. I’ve got a few Wyze cameras scattered around my home—nothing too fancy, just standard models. I’ve also been using SmartThings for a while now, primarily for motion sensors, door open/close sensors, and a couple of Arlo Pro cameras. The integration has been seamless for the most part, but there’s this one thing that’s been bugging me.I’ve noticed that when I try to mute the spoken instructions from the Wyze cam, it’s incredibly frustrating. The camera keeps repeating “ready to connect” over and over, which is really annoying, especially when I’m trying to troubleshoot or set it up. I’ve tried everything from restarting the camera to checking the Wi-Fi connection, but nothing seems to work. It’s like the camera is stuck in a loop, and I can’t figure out how to get it to stop. Now, I know that Wyze has their own app, and I’ve tried using that as well, but the issue persists. I’ve also reached out to Wyze support, but their response was pretty generic, and they didn’t offer any concrete solutions. I’m starting to wonder if there’s a workaround or a setting I’m missing that could help me mute those spoken instructions. On the other hand, I’ve been really impressed with how SmartThings handles my other devices. The integration with Arlo Pro cameras has been flawless, and I love how I can set up routines and automations directly from the app. It’s just a shame that the Wyze cam isn’t playing nice in the same way.I’ve also been exploring the new SmartThings Android app, and while it’s got some improvements, it still feels a bit clunky compared to the older version. I’ve tried recreating my scenarios in the new app, but it’s not as intuitive, and I’m missing some of the features I used to rely on. It’s a bit disheartening because I was really hoping the new app would streamline things.Another thing I’ve been thinking about is the integration of different hubs. I’ve heard from some users that having multiple hubs can sometimes cause conflicts or compatibility issues. I’m lucky in that I haven’t run into any major problems yet, but I’m definitely keeping an eye on it. It’s a bit of a balancing act, trying to keep everything connected and working smoothly without overcomplicating the setup. In terms of future plans, I’m really interested in expanding my smart home setup with more cameras and maybe even some smart locks. But before I dive into that, I want to make sure I’ve got the basics sorted out. Fixing the Wyze cam issue is top of my list, and I’m hopeful that the community might have some insights or solutions.Overall, I’m still a big fan of both Wyze and SmartThings. They’ve both brought a lot of convenience and peace of mind to my home, and I’m excited to see how they continue to evolve. But for now, I’m just hoping to find a way to mute that persistent “ready to connect” message. If anyone has any tips or tricks, I’d be more than grateful to hear them! Thanks for reading, and happy automating!
