I’ve been using the Hue app and Google Home for control, and it’s been a breeze to set up scenes and routines. However, I ran into an interesting challenge when integrating with Hubitat for more complex automations. The color control wasn’t working as expected, but after some troubleshooting, I managed to get everything in sync! 
A Fun DIY Project
This summer, I decided to create an infinity mirror using RGBIC lights. It was a fun and rewarding project! If you’re thinking of trying something similar, start by experimenting with different color combinations and ensure proper wiring for safety. The end result is stunning, and it’s a great conversation starter! 
Tips for Newbies
- Start Small: Begin with a few smart bulbs or plugs to get a feel for the ecosystem before diving into full automation.
- Leverage Scenes: Use apps like Hue or Alexa to create scenes for different moods—perfect for movie nights or relaxing evenings.
- Security First: If you’re using multiple hubs or devices, ensure your network is secure. I’ve been experimenting with VLANs for better segmentation, and it’s made a world of difference.
