I recently came across the news about Hubitat Elevation’s support for Matter devices, and I must say, it’s incredibly exciting! 
The ability to integrate Matter devices alongside existing Zigbee and Z-Wave devices opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for home automation.
For those who might not be familiar, Matter is a smart home standard designed to enhance interoperability and local control. Hubitat’s implementation of Matter support, especially on the Model C-8 hub, is a significant step forward in creating a seamless smart home ecosystem.
I’ve been experimenting with Matter devices on my Hubitat setup, and the results have been promising. The commissioning process with Apple Home and Google Home is smooth, and the integration with existing automations has been flawless. For instance, I’ve set up a routine where my Matter-enabled lights dim when I watch TV, and they brighten up again when the show ends. It’s these small touches that really make a home feel smart.
One thing I’m particularly impressed with is how Matter complements Hubitat’s existing capabilities. Whether it’s creating complex automations or simply ensuring all devices work together harmoniously, Hubitat Elevation proves to be a versatile platform.
