As I delve deeper into the world of SmartThings, I’ve been fascinated by the possibilities it offers for integrating various devices into a seamless smart home ecosystem. Recently, I’ve been working on an integration using the SmartThings Schema Connector, and while it has been a rewarding experience, I’ve encountered a challenge that I’m eager to explore further.
Currently, I’m utilizing predefined device handler types to describe my device’s capabilities, and they’ve been functioning well. However, I’ve reached a point where I need to create custom device profiles for a relay and a thermostat. Unfortunately, I can’t find an option to create these custom profiles within the Developer Workspace when using the SmartThings Schema Connector. This has led me to wonder: Is there a way to create custom device profiles while using the SmartThings Schema Connector? If so, how can it be done? Or is there a workaround that I can implement?
I understand that this might be a limitation of the current setup, but I’m hopeful that there’s a creative solution out there. Perhaps there’s a way to extend the existing capabilities or leverage other tools within the SmartThings ecosystem. I’m also curious to know if others have faced similar challenges and how they’ve overcome them.
This exploration has been both challenging and enlightening. It’s pushed me to think outside the box and consider alternative approaches to achieving my goals. I’m excited to see what solutions the community might offer and how they can further enhance the functionality of my smart home setup.
Thank you in advance for any insights or guidance you can provide! Let’s continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with SmartThings.
