Hi everyone, I wanted to share an exciting discovery I made while experimenting with my Sonoff S31 smart plugs and my solar grid tie inverter. After some research and testing, I found that the power monitoring hardware in the Sonoff S31 is indeed bidirectional! This means it can accurately measure both incoming and outgoing power, which is fantastic for tracking the performance of my solar setup.
I set up one of my S31 plugs to monitor the output of my 1000W grid tie inverter, which is connected to a 750W solar panel array. The results have been impressive—everything works smoothly, and the sensor values are consistent and reliable. Plus, the ability to remotely switch the system on and off adds a convenient layer of control.
