Exploring the Potential of Tuya Local Integration for Smart Lighting

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting with Tuya-based recessed ceiling lights, and it’s been an exciting journey. I recently purchased a set of these lights from Amazon, and they’ve been a great addition to my home automation setup. The Tuya/Smart Life app has been my go-to for managing these devices, and I’ve noticed that the Tuya integration within Home Assistant works seamlessly for controlling all my devices. However, there’s one challenge I’ve been trying to tackle: getting the gateway-connected lights to show up in Local Tuya.

The master light hub connects to the internet without any issues, but the other lights, which rely on the gateway for communication, aren’t automatically discovered in Local Tuya. I’ve managed to add them manually by entering the host IP, but since the gateway lights don’t have their own IP addresses, this workaround feels a bit clunky. I’m curious if there’s a more streamlined way to integrate these lights into my local setup without having to manually input IP addresses each time.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting and researching forums, and it seems like others might be facing similar issues. If there’s a way to have the gateway lights automatically appear in Local Tuya, it would make the setup process much smoother and more user-friendly. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s successfully integrated their Tuya gateway devices or found a workaround for this challenge.

In the meantime, I’m enjoying the flexibility and convenience that these smart lights bring to my home. The ability to control them through voice commands or the app has definitely enhanced my daily routine. I’m hopeful that with some more tinkering and perhaps some community insights, I can find a solution that allows me to fully leverage the potential of Tuya’s local integration capabilities.
