I’ve been really interested in trying out the new Room Lighting app for my exterior lights. I’ve heard so much about it, but I’m still trying to wrap my head around how it can improve my setup. Currently, I have some exterior lights that come on at sunset, set to a very dim 5% brightness. The goal is for them to turn off at sunrise plus 15 minutes, but I’m running into an issue where the lights stay on instead of shutting off automatically.
I’ve tried setting up basic rules and even explored the Rule Machine, but nothing seems to address this specific scenario effectively. I’ve heard that the Room Lighting app might offer a more seamless solution, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement it.
One thing I’ve noticed is that my system doesn’t recognize the next day’s sunrise, which is why the lights remain on. I’m hoping the Room Lighting app can help bridge this gap. I’ve also started integrating motion sensors and presence detection (using my mobile phone as a device), but the timing isn’t quite right. Ideally, I’d like the lights to brighten on motion or presence for a set amount of time before dimming back to 5%. However, the core issue remains: getting them to turn off at sunrise plus 15 minutes.
Has anyone else faced a similar challenge with the Room Lighting app? I’d love to hear about your experiences or any tips you might have. Maybe there’s a feature I’m missing or a workaround that could make this setup work flawlessly. I’m really excited to see how this app can enhance my home automation setup, and I’m hopeful that with some tweaking, I can get everything running smoothly!
